I don't have any pictures yet but we're alive and loving Bangkok. The American/European imported grocery store is comparably priced with our local Swiss grocery stores. I bought some Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and a new supply of American peanut butter, to replace mine, which was taken away at security (I tried to keep it, begged and pleaded and possibly cried). The local markets are so cheap I keep thinking I'm doing the conversion wrong (maybe I am--wouldn't be the first time).
After several trips to Carrefore and a trip to Ikea, we are starting to feel moved in--we even bought a Christmas tree. We momentarily considered the real, imported, 3 foot tree for $300 dollars but went with a fake, much cheaper model. We're doing our best to get in the Christmas spirit while the weather's in the 80-90's--which is actually fantastic for Bangkok.
As much as Rocky and I love Bangkok, times it by a million for E. She is in complete Heaven. Every day this week we have played with cousins and new friends. She loves wearing flip flops and short sleeves and everyday when she gets dressed she says, "Way warm here." As if to remind me we live in Bangkok and she can wear whatever she wants. She does walk around all day as wet as if she just climbed out of the pool--I'm hoping she adjusts to that--but she doesn't seem to mind. In fact, she just got mad at Rocky for turning up the AC, "No Daddy, too cold." She clearly fits in well.
Some of her quotes from the past week:
Upon getting of the airplane, she threw both hands into the air and said, "This place warm! This place have bright sun! Me like this place!"
When we went to check out the local preschool, Mary, her cousin, explained some of the rules to her,
"You can't speak Thai, only English."
E: "But me only speak German."
After a day of playing at cousins I told her it was time to go home, she immediately dissolved into fits, and cried, "No! Me no want to go back to Switzerland!"
We loved our time in Switzerland and all the traveling we were able to do but we excited and feeling very blessed for the new adventures we will have in Thailand. And we're excited also that we won't be moving for at least another year. Hopefully.

That's so cute and sad, I am so glad Elie has some friends and cousins to play with. That's crazy to think she is wearing flip flops and shorts-tell her Uncle Beetle is too.
I love hearing all of E's comments. She's growing up so fast. You are a great mother. Keep the posts coming. :)
E is hilarious. Love that girl.
Glad you guys are there and safe. Elie is so funny. Being a little sweaty doesn't sound like such a bad thing to some of us back home, either.
