sleepy wrap

Sleepy wraps are the bomb. (I'm not sure if anyone says that anymore but it's true.) Vi didn't ride in her car seat until she was three weeks old (there are some pretty lax seat belt laws here).  In Bangkok, with walking and taking the train, taxi and tuk tuk, a good baby carrier is a necessity. I love my trusty Ergo but I was afraid to wear it as it sits right on my incision.

Luckily, my sister sent my the Sleepy Wrap. Which, I admit, I originally thought was some kind of specialty swaddle blanket. I washed it pre-baby and neatly folded it in Violet's drawer without thinking anything strange about the fact that unfolded it is a strip of fabric at least 25 feet long. On the first night home from the hospital, sometime around 3 AM I asked Rocky to swaddle her up in it. He started unrolling and unrolling, I think it took him about 10 minutes just to get it laid out. Long story short, I believe he used a few choice words in asking me what it was, and telling me there was no way it was a blanket, and something to the effect that if Vi was swaddled in that thing she would probably suffocate and might not fight into her crib.

When I got around to putting the Sleepy Wrap to it's true use, it lived up to it's name. Violet cannot ride in it for more than a few minutes without falling asleep and not waking up until I stop moving. Another bonus is the baby is completely covered, which is especially nice here as baby's are very exciting and everyone wants to breath on their faces and touch them.

It's so fantastic I made Amy buy one too so we could walk around looking even more hilarious than when we were both pregnant.
