random bits about vi

Violet is almost eight weeks and growing fast. I don't know any percentiles so I don't have any concrete facts  but I do know she seems huge. Granted any percentiles here might make her seem like some kind of Goliath. Every time I see my doctor he says the same thing, "Big baby. Four kilo."  I always want to reply, "Yeah, I know she's big. I've got the scar to prove it."

But anyways, she's just about too long for her baby bath tub and I'm not sure what the next bathing step will be after that--the real bath seems huge and imposing, especially when you factor in a very forcefully, loving three year old. It seems a bit like putting a baby animal in a room with a Python just waiting to hug it to death.

Since our family is so far away, we get asked a lot if she is like Elie. Some days we think she looks like Elie, some days she looks totally different. So I guess we don't know. Her eyes are bigger, her hair's thicker, she seems fatter but I'm not sure--it's been a while. She doesn't smile as much as Eliot did but that is probably because she is too busy sleeping and being totally awesome.

She HATES being held and prefers her bouncy seat to anyone's arms. This is definitely not like Elie. At first this made me feel like a horrible mother but I've decided to chalk it up to body heat and enjoy my free hands. She hates being hot and as soon I turn on the air conditioning she honestly lets out an audible sigh and relaxes. She sweats like crazy and has had a nasty case of baby acne these last few weeks to prove it. (Hence, the lack of photos.) Remember how I raved about the sleepy wrap, well she hates it now, and every time she rides in it she comes out sweaty and mad, with new flaming red acne. I guess her love of cold shouldn't surprise me. She's just like her sister and dad, unfortunately she lives in Thailand and something needs to give or we are going to be spending her college savings on our AC bill before she can walk.

We love her. She's adorable. She's awake and hungry.

She is so very sweet! I love that little smile. As for the not snuggling it might be a second child thing. Samantha hated to snuggle and was constantly pushing away. She was far more interested in what Whitney was doing.

She is so cute! Thanks for posting-she seems like a dream baby, Annabelle preferred laying on the ground over being held too :)
