its a party even with carrot cake

I'm a huge birthday fan and so a party for Vi was certain. She was so excited for the big bash that she refused to take an afternoon nap. Preferring instead to pound some green mango and make messes at lightening speed.

 Rocky and I talked about giving her just a cupcake, but he insisted she needed a whole cake to herself. Normally she doesn't eat sweets--just a wide variety of organic vegetables, whole grains ground by hand, hormone free milk flown in from an organic Swiss cows and the occasional nibble of fruit. We decided to make an exception for her birthday. You only turn one once.

 She was a little unsure what to do with this cake that was bigger than her head, she tested it out on her sister first.

 When Eliot seemed to like it, she gave it a try. 

 Blech.

 What is this? Carrot cake?!
(Turns out she doesn't like vegetables even when put in a cake.)

We had to satiate her annoyance with presents. Eliot wrapped up her own giant Dora doll to give to Vi. An obvious impediment to my plan to get rid of said Dora doll.

She partyed hard.
And went to bed before her guests went home.

On a similar note, I have a giant carrot cake in my freezer with one bite out of it, if anyone's interested.
