pattaya

Thanks to Winston (and the plague we got last year), a white Christmas was out for us. We settled for a few days at the beach.

We left for Pattaya (just a hour and a half drive from Bangkok) the day after Christmas. When we went to load our suitcases in the car, we found Eliot patiently waiting to leave, all packed up and buckled in. She was clearly very excited to go to the beach--we have no idea how long she had been there.

Violet is getting better about the beach and this time even played in the sand and cautiously put one foot in the water.

Maeser was a shoe-in for 'best dressed' as well as 'most likely to fit in' in Pattaya. Which, from what I've gathered is 95% Russian, 4% Thai and 1% other. He strutted around the whole time looking like he owned the place--clearly well aware of how good he looked. Here's to hoping Winston inherits his speedo.
We even wore sweatshirts one day. The resort we stayed at had a western breakfast buffet and Eliot requested a plate full of baked beans every morning. Breakfast of champions.
Violet only slows down when she gets herself into situations like this.

Violet got her speedo out the next day, trying to fit in too.

The cliff jump was a big highlight. It would have been less daring if the pool water wasn't near freezing.

Winston kicked it in his car seat. It was so cool, he could sleep swaddled and not break a sweat. He of course chose to be held, but the car seat was always an option and we lugged it around in case he chose to use it.

Abe, apparently prepping for some kind of beach race. He is a stalwart believer in faster/larger arm pumps+tiny leg movements=speed.
