littlest violet

She's three!  We were looking through pictures yesterday and we found this one. "That's star blankie. Me want to look at this for a long time." After three years, that blankie looks a little rough and/or toxic.

She woke me up this morning by standing very quietly and staring hard at me. This happens on a regular basis. The she said, "Mom, E-ie says me not need to do my jobs today."

It's very interesting to watch your second child develop a personality. You discover what is age related and what are personality quirks.

Violet is a wildcard. We're never quite sure when she's going to spontaniously give hugs or when she's going to run out of the kitchen wielding a giant knife and shouting, "Me going to dit you with my sword!"

In the last year Violet has developed a personality. Learning to use words was a crucial part of that development.

She seems to be content to not do something until she's comfortable knowing she can do it well. She didn't talk until she could string together sentences. She wouldn't wear underwear until she knew she was ready to keep them dry. The biggest development, as far as we're concerned, is that in the last month she has occasionally used the pronoun, "I". We're thrilled about this.

Here are some pictures for her combined birthday party with Maeser--he was born 11 days before and lives two houses away. A year ago, if he even walked into the same room, she would start crying, now they are inseparable and always ALWAYS up to no good.

We sure are going to miss having him close enough to randomly show up at our house.

Rocky agonized over what kind of cake to do for them but planes and trains won out. Mainly because he only got home a few hours before her party and picked up some airplanes for cheap in Vietnam.
Every time someone rings our doorbell Violet yells, "Pizza's here!" This might make some mothers embarrassed. But it only makes me hungry.
Winston loves sitting around with the big kids. Also, he sometimes wears pink diapers.

Violet loves:
bubbles
trains
cars
her giant stuffed whale
riding her stick unicorn
riding Scooter around
going to the park
swimming, for 4 minutes when she decides it's too cold
free climbing too high
Big Hero Six
Doc McStuffins
Macaroni and Cheese
books: especially Heckedy Peg, Knuffle Bunny and There's a Nightmare in my Closet
riding her tricycle

She has the most adorable voice and has started narrating everything and occasionally making jokes. We really love her.
