Wait, you voluntarily traveled 60+ hours with a 13 hour time change for only 8 days?
Yep, and I would definitely do it again.
We went from this:
To this:
While doing a bit of this along the way:
Why?
We had casually mention to Rocky's mom that it would be fun if we could come out for her 60th birthday in March. Then after the last flight home in August, we put all plans on hold. After a few months had dulled our memory, we started talking about it again. This time we secretly committed to doing it, bought tickets and didn't say anything to Cheryl in hopes that she had forgotten about our optimistic plans from the summer time.
We landed in SLC, drove 40 minutes to a restaurant, where we met up with the rest of the Smarts, and we surprised her. It was fantastic and definitely worth it. (Said everyone but the whoever got stuck sitting in front of Violet on every flight.)
It was perfect. We checked off almost all the items on our "to do in winter" check list. The most important was we all stayed healthy for the entire trip.
We got in a little snow time.
A lot of cousin time:
Possibly some public nudity:
A visit to Temple Square:
Eliot's first time skiing:
Possibly, Eliot's late time skiing:
And then we went home:
And after a few days (weeks) of jet lag, it was back to normal life:
