strawberry days

We finally made it to Strawberry Days. We pulled our kids out of school two weeks early when all our household goods were shipped so this year we were around for all the events. Our kids can't believe what they have been missing.

Winston wasn't so keen on the Jadybird.

When we found out we would be around for the rodeo, we asked the Violet and Winston about mutton busting' They were sold and talked a lot about how they were going to ride a sheep. When it came down to it, turns out they had never seen a sheep before and the stage fright got the best of them. Winston learned a new long sentence, "I don't wanna wide a sheep." As soon as Violet was out of the gate, she jumped off her sheep and ran in the opposite direction. It's really our fault. We didn't prepare them adequately with information about what a sheep is and what it is not.

Eliot was in love. She laughed and laughed at the rodeo clown and found a new dream career.

Huck Finn days was another win. Even if we brought no fishing equipment and my kids were forced try and catch fish with their hands like hunger crazed cast aways. In the end it was a win for everyone. Eliot got to be with Millie, Violet rode a horse, Winston rode the tractor train and we didn't come home with any fish.

The rest of our summer has been spent at bbqs and pool parties. It's been good so far.
