Colmar

Sometime in December we took a quick day trip to Colmar, France for the Christmas Market. It was beautiful and cold, and as usually we were drastically under dressed. The winter clothes I originally bought last Spring when I found out we would be encountering our first winter in five years, were designed for a much warmer climate. More for Hong Kong or perhaps for South Florida at night.  They were definitely not enough to keep us warm. So after eating crepes, riding mechanical horses, visiting the creche, riding in Santa's sleigh and running our stroller over our quota of strangers' feet, we rolled out of Colmar. We made a quick pit stop in Mullhouse to outfit the whole family in warmer clothes for a fraction of what it would have cost in Switzerland. Then we picked up food at a place called, 'Quickie Burger' which was surprisingly good.

Violet's smiles for pictures just keep getting better. And yes, I have the warmest coat in the family. Thank you, Hannah.
I hope this picture never embarrasses Winston. I'm not sure it's cool to ride mechanical horses with your mom while a machine sprays soap suds at you--but who knows, maybe in ten years this will be what all the cool kids do.
