loy krathong

We celebrated Loy Krathong again. I use the term, "we" very loosely as I was only out of the hospital for about 12 hours when it rolled around. Eliot and Violet wore their traditional Thai clothes to school Friday. Eliot paired her's well with her stuffed monkey, Tosser's, bow tie in her hair. My mom took this picture when she went to see Mary's class do their traditional dance for the school program.

Then Sunday we had plans to go to the local park and float krathongs in the pond. Instead we opted for the laziest possible route and floated it in the bathtub during their nightly bath. E at first was really disappointed but afterwards she said, "That was so fun, can we do it like that next year too."

Just the kind of positive reinforcement on low key celebrations I needed right before the holidays.
I am writing this post at great personal risk because now I once again have the Loy Krathong song stuck in my head. Follow this link and you can too, I've never heard the English lyrics before, it makes so much more sense now.
