railay

Have I mentioned that we love getting visitors. We really do. Last month my good friend from junior high, high school, college, post college etc came to Bangkok for a quick visit. We dragged her and our kids around to some of our favorite Bangkok tourist spots.

Some places that we go to often, like Chattachuk market.

Some places we go to occasionally, like Ayutthaya. Still hot as ever.
We missed the elephant show when Violet got distracted feeding the goats and loving life.

And some places we hardly ever go, like the Grand Palace. Which I haven't been back to in almost three years. Turns out it's still really neat and really, really hot. Eliot has requested we redo her castle in PG to be as fancy as the Grand Palace.

Winston was a peach. As long as he's being held, he's golden. If you aren't willing to hold him 24/7, all bets are off.

Since no trip to Thailand is complete without an island getaway, we headed down to Railay Bay. I spent three months pumping almost every day and I had barely enough to last me the 50 hours I was gone. Worth it.
Railay Bay is a small peninsula off Krabi. It is only accessible by boat. We learned last June, if the boats aren't run because of storms, you just have to give up your hotel reservation and stay on the mainland. I was thinking I was getting a great deal on hotel rooms, until I realized this is the second time I've paid for a hotel and the first time I've made it there.

We were the only ones on the island that packed roller bags. I guess everyone else got the memo about the waist deep walk to and from the boat.
These are all cellphone pictures, so they don't do it justice.
One of my favorite things to do on the beach here is people watch. Especially to watch people taking pictures of themselves. There are some awesome poses. Don't trust a stranger to take a single shot photo of you? Be sure to bring your own tripod and spend all morning taking hundreds of photos of yourself.
Don't worry, the beeping self timer on their camera is only slowly driving my insane.

Great trip. Can't wait for Janae to come back again. hint hint.
