Winston had a little Halloween prep with his Batman shirt and sticky rice.
I'd originally planned on having Vi borrow a zebra costume, because it was easy and cute, but when I pulled it out for the primary Halloween party, she refused to touch it. She kept saying, "Me no like my costume. Me no want to wear it." I decided to paint a box blue, print out a face and put some colored tape on the sides. Easiest possible Thomas costume. She loved it.
If you ask her to smile she does this and says, "Dis me 'mile." I love it.I really love the age when they figure out Halloween. Something clicks and they realize, all I have to do is wear this silly costume, walk around to different houses and I get loads of candy. She figured it out this year and would have trick or treated for hours. Fortunately for my sake as a lazy parent, there are only about 10 houses in our neighborhood that signed up for trick or treating. It was ideal.
As soon as I saw this costume at costco, I knew I needed it. Eliot was wishy washy about being an astronaut, but my excitement won her over. I'm not sure how much longer it will be a bargaining chip.
Winston rocked his hand-me-down gnome costume.
Scooter rocked him.
Our neighbor invited the kids over for a Halloween dinner. This insured that my kids ate at least two bites of food before they filled the rest of their stomachs with candy.
The family picture. These vests are what the motorcycle drivers wear to let people know they are moto taxis--the fastest form of transportation in Bangkok. Rocky keeps volunteering to run errands to the store while wearing his and coming home with $2-3 extra dollars. (not actually true, we would have a hard time delivery people to their requested destination, unless it matched one of the few places we regularly go--school, work, church, grocery store, parks etc)
It was too dark to focus. Looks a bit spooky. Which is Violet's favorite word right now, "spooky, mom. Halloween is spoooooky."
Until next year, Halloween.
