By starting school, we committed to another year here in Bangkok. Eliot was thrilled to be starting year two. She was also late and had to rush off to school on Rocky's scooter.
Not so thrilled about me making her wear a helmet.
Violet started at the same school this year. She is in K1. Her level started a few days after Eliot's but since Rocky and I were both in Africa, we decided to wait and have her start when we got back. She refused to get out of bed the first day because she was so scared. We somehow talked/bribed/threatened her into it. When I picked her up after school, she told how much she loved school. The only thing she actually remembered was how many times she had gone down the fireman pole (four tines. with no help).
The next day she was the first one awake.
I didn't actually take these are her first day. but they were on her first day of her second week. Same, same. Mornings are hard.Winston insists this is not him but instead Violet's friend, Tucker. Who his shirt belonged to last year and who does have his and Violet's same hair/haircut.
Before she went back to school she adamantly insisted she would not make any new friends (apparently her friend quota is 3). And though her teacher insists she's very social and plays with many other kids, the only person she has admitted to playing with is her teacher.
I love having them at the same school. Eliot sees Violet a couple times a week but Violet is apparently to focused on school or too cool to acknowledge her sister. Eliot insists she yells, "Violet!" several times but gets no acknowledgment.
Winston is ardently enjoying his time as an only child. As soon as the girls leave he rounds up all his favorite cars and spends hours driving them around across the floor in peace. When Violet gets home it's playground rules and he usually loses his favorite car to his bigger, stronger sister, unless he can smuggle it into his crib for nap time.
Lately, he's been eating as much as both his sisters combined and growing like crazy. If Violet doesn't step her appetite, she might not be able to wrestle his cars away from him much longer. Though I have no doubt that if probably motivated she would find somehow to wile them away.
