sukothai

A few months ago we can by way of a new van that made us want to road trip through Thailand. This would be our first car with a tv in it, but most importantly it had a privacy window. Yes, the sound proof window you can role up so the driver doesn't hear you--or if you're us, you can roll up and not hear your children. It's incredible. The first time I used it, it saved my sanity when I took a wrong turn on the way home from a church meeting 30 minutes away and spent an extra 30 minutes sitting in traffic during what should have been my kids dinner time.

Our first trip we planned to Chiang Mai, about ten hours drive north of Bangkok. We packed up the van and set off, only to discover not only would the sound proof window not roll up, the forward air con was only blowing out warm air. We endured five hours and stopped for the night in Sukothai. Sukothai was the ancient capital from the 11-13th century. It is relatively well preserved and the next morning we headed out to check out the ruins.
Don't worry, we didn't actually bike with Winston like this. We wore him on our back in the ergo, much safer...I think.

On the count of three, no one look at the camera.

Right now our life is one long game of tag. We will be walking along, perfectly peaceful and then someone will yell, "tag" and all the kids scatter. This generally happens in the most opportune of places.
Then we set off for the second half of our drive. Thanks to the 10-15 degree temperature drop our car cooled off dramatically. Also, since there were no fast food restaurants along the way, our kids were in an msg/sugar coma from existing off 7-11 slurpees and instant noodles.
