We loved our three and a half week Christmas/New Year's holiday. It was a Christmas miracle and everyone slept in and played together. It was incredible.
We took advantage of Bangkok with no traffic and went trampolining and rode this stuffed elephant.
We cruised over to Asiatique one afternoon and had a family race on these tiny four wheelers. Winston couldn't believe his good fortune.
Violet surprised us all by being very cautious. Though the was a collision between Eliot and Violet.
This is essentially the same things as visiting an aquarium, right? Winston's feet barely reached the water and none of the fish would bit them, so he started to catch him with his hands. Our cue to leave.
We took advantage of the five days of weather below 85 degrees and went for a lot of bike rides. Not always fully clothed. After New Years, when the traffic picked up again, we improvised new games around the house. Eliot bobbed for rose apples and Violet and Rocky played mariokart for an audience.
Vi and I went on a lunch date. Here she is doing her 'surprised face'.
Rocky and I got dressed up for a night out. If Eliot could have seen the other dresses, she would have been so disappointed in how plain mine was.
Softball started up again. Luckily, nearby the field is this firetruck which Violet and Winston live in during the games.
International Day was another success. The night before we were talking at dinner about what they could wear the next day to dress up as Americans. When I mentioned that baseball was an American sport and that the Astros were a team in America. Eliot was floored. She just kept saying, "I can't believe baseball is American! That's so great! Violet, the Astros, my team, are from America! This is incredible!" Clearly we've missed some basic America education.
This year the American booth really showed up. One parent (hint:it was not me) volunteered to make this to scale model of the Saturn V. There is even a smoke machine hooked up so smoke comes pouring out of the engines.
