ballet

Even though I keep insisting I lack the determination, stamina or style to be a ballet mom, I keep getting suckered into ballet. I try to let the girls pick one activity each and this past term they both chose ballet. Unfortunately they were on different days. The classes were twenty minutes away and in the late afternoon/evening. The very fact that I endured slogging all four children to twice a week ballet rehearsals, through winter weather,  deserves my own round of applause.

They had their final recital with The Wizard of Oz. The boys and I had the pleasure of witnessing both the dress rehearsal and the final performance. Winston was super excited to be in a theater (we really need to get him out more). He sat anxiously awaiting the curtain raising and then when he saw what ballet was, he promptly fell asleep. Oskar followed suit. The next hour would have been wonderful if the theater wasn't a dead spot of phone service. I mean, I loved the dress rehearsal.

The performance was great and the girls both loved getting prepped and ready and getting to preform. They did wonderful and they showcased beautiful poise and ballet ability. When they both asked to do different activity next year--I bought them a dozen roses.
