staycation

We finally had a holiday break that both the girls shared with two days off for Ascension day. I had loads of fun ideas for places we could go but turns out Rocky had ideas of places to go also--not as fun as mine. Instead of traveling together, he spent the week working in Algeria and Dubai and we did a staycation.

Aside from my original grumbling about how a staycation is a vacation for everyone but the person who still has to cook, clean and do laundry, it was actually really fun. It also required significantly less packing and prep. Basically we split our time between the pool and the lake and kept this same bag packed by the front door with towels, snacks and sun screen. Maybe I could be "team staycation"

We 98% sure this beach is open to the public. The tower in the water has a couple diving boards and platforms. It's closed now because there is no life guard on duty. Behind us there is massive construction on a new indoor pool and beach zone. But this possibly closed beach is perfect for us and there is plenty of space and shade and the only other people are confused hikers who randomly wander in and complain to me about the construction (in German, so for all I know they were telling my the directions to El Dorado).
Eliot found a duck egg at the bottom of the shallow part of the lake. Oskar battled through the stroller nap but he finally gave in.
Winston catching some zzz's. Staycations are exhausting and floaties make great pillows.

Is this the same picture? Who cares. This baby is cute enough to post twice and he loves the pool. It's kind of like the bath, but he might see the pool more frequently.
