On the first day of our two week fall break, our kids were surprised when two of their cousins from Singapore walked in the door. My brother, Dan, had brought them out for a week while he worked in the area. Rocky was traveling all week, so having two new kids to show around our favorite spots was extra exciting.
First stop was one of our favorite hikes and playgrounds.Winston's bathroom is the world.
Right after Maeser met his first electric fence.
The next day, after spending a breakfast deep in study of outer space books, we headed off to Lenzburg castle to battle the dragon.
We taught these tropical cousins a thing or two about pumpkins.
Also about the square 'tortillas' your parents buy in Germany when they are super cheap.
We did more hiking.
A lot of hiking. It's free, it doesn't need to be cleaned up and everyone can do it.
And more cooking out.
The sleeping was minimal at best. As all great cousins weeks should be. These two were nice enough to let Winston tag along.
Jucker Farm for a classic pumpkin patch experience.
A barefoot path across broken glass. It's like a back soi in Thailand in a completely controlled environment.
We taught them that carving pumpkins isn't really as fun as you imagine--watermelons really are better. And Abe had a run in with the Blue Man Group.
This clever kid spent his last afternoon here stocking up on chewing gum before heading back to Singapore.
It was so much fun having these two around. My kids hiked twice as fast without any complaining. We had great weather and no jet lag. It was the perfect holiday. Now, who's going to send me their kids next to hike with us?
