Even though school started an hour later on the first day, we were still manically rushing out the door. I did capture all three of the school kids in the elevator before we went our separate ways. W and V have a back to school ceremony in the village church. While Eliot goes with the older kids to another building. Since Rocky was traveling, I was very happy Eliot was independent and confident enough to walk to her meeting alone, luckily she found friends to sit with. Rocky set me a picture of Violet on her first day of school three years ago in the church with her balloon and it broke my heart to see her so tiny, at the beginning of what would be a very hard year for her.
This year she was all smiles and found her friends right away. For those of you surprised by this not so nature friendly tradition, in a country that is so nature keen, we were informed these balloons and their strings are 100% recyclable and animal safe.
I'm definitely not the mom who is sad to see school begin again. I love the newness and the excitement and the possibility of so many opportunities. All the kids were excited to see their friends and I am happy to be back into a routine. Although I think we could all go without the homework.

I love everything about back to school, except the homework. There are too many temper tantrums about homework.
