OSKAR

Oskar has starting talking in the last month. It was been wonderful. And slightly disturbing. We love seeing his personality come alive in way we can understand and relate. He tells us all sorts of stories--we have learned to question the validity of some of them. Soon after he started speaking in sentences, he started tattle telling and creating elaborate lies. Apparently such is the example his siblings have set for him. One morning he woke up with a mosquito bite and informed us he had been bitten by a snake. He refused to sleep in his room, insisting he could see snakes, and needed to sleep in "the big bed". Rocky brought him home a toy snake from Egypt to sleep with and apparently this cured everything.
I've always felt it was lucky to be born with so many older siblings. You come into the world loved by so many. Violet really loves Oskar. We biked over to the park today and he was furious that he did not get to take his little balance bike but he did smile fore this picture.  He also spends a lot of time in boxes, I'm sure this is Winston's influence. Here he is fishing from his box.

He's never one to shy away from animals or a chance for a photo.

And he loves a good ham and cheese sandwich. Violet took this picture of him during breakfast one day, and he sums up how he hams it up for pictures.
We've rotated our legos back into the playroom and all four kids have stopped to spend time at the table but no one as much as Winston. He comes home from school and acts like he won the lottery when he gets to sit at the lego table and build things. He is a very thoughtful, patient brother and a wonderful example to Oskar.

Oskar is obsessed with the Hulk, which we have read about in a picture book. Here he is in his Hulk jammies--which are really just green long underwear. He has worn them every day for the past week. He loves jumping around and yelling, "Hulk jump!" or "Hulk smash Mommy!" He shot me in the face with a nerf gun last night during our family lesson. So really the more time he spends quietly playing legos with Winston, the better. And it's no surprise Winston's favorite superhero is Ironman.
